First- and second-degree burns to the face and back of the hand
Treatment type: First- and second-degree burn — face and hand
Session one, back of the hand: an open, moist surface with yellow separated skin over the fingers Session one, face: widespread redness across the cheeks and forehead, with yellow crusting on the nose Session three, back of the hand: the area has drawn in and a yellow-brown layer has settled over it Session three, face: the inflammation has subsided; dry crusts remain on the nose and chin Session four, back of the hand: new pink skin now covers almost the whole area Session four, face: the skin has evened out; only a few pale patches remain End of the course, back of the hand: skin closed and even in tone, with no open wound End of the course, face: skin healed, with no redness or crusting
First- and second-degree burns involving the face, hands and feet. The photographs follow two of those areas — the back of the hand and the face — at four points in the course: an open surface at the first session, a dry crust in the sessions that follow, new skin coming up underneath, and a closed, even surface in the final frames.
